Men’s Residentials

Providing space for men to reconnect with themselves, others, and nature through shared residential experiences

The Men’s Residentials programme was designed to give participants time away from daily pressures and responsibilities, creating a supportive environment where men could focus on their wellbeing. Through residential stays, walking activities, and shared experiences in nature, participants were able to step away from routine and take time to reflect, relax, and reconnect.

For many participants, the experience was described as transformative. Being in a calm, natural environment allowed individuals to slow down, reduce stress, and gain a fresh perspective on personal challenges and everyday pressures.

What the Project Delivered

The residential programme combined walking activities, outdoor experiences, and group reflection sessions to encourage meaningful connection and personal wellbeing. Time spent walking and exploring natural spaces provided opportunities for informal conversations, while shared meals and group discussions helped build trust and stronger relationships between participants.

These residentials offered something many participants said they rarely experience: a safe, judgement-free environment where they could openly talk about stress, pressures, and life challenges.

Project Highlights

Participant Experience

Participants consistently spoke about the value of having a supportive space where they could relax, talk openly, and connect with others who shared similar experiences. The combination of outdoor activity, shared time together, and the peaceful natural setting helped many participants feel mentally refreshed and more confident moving forward.

The success of these residentials continues to influence how Aspire Burnley designs future wellbeing programmes, ensuring they remain inclusive, supportive, and shaped by the needs of the community.
